Mobile Health and Screening Unit
The MHSU provides health screening to international protection applicants and refugees in accommodation centres nationwide.
How this service helps
Safetynet’s Mobile Health and Screening Unit (MHSU) is a team of nurses, phlebotomists, a GP, a radiographer and migrant support workers run in partnership with HSE Social Inclusion.
Our mobile clinic – equipped with X-ray and consultation facilities – screens for TB, blood-borne viruses and other conditions, helping to prioritise healthcare needs and integrate people into local services.
Healthcare that meets you there
The team provides health screening and medical assessments for relocated refugees, health assessments and screening for newly arrived international protection applicants, screening for communicable disease such as tuberculosis, blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted diseases and to clinically assess and prioritise an individual’s healthcare needs to respond appropriately.
No one is beyond reach
The unit consists of a large vehicle equipped as a mobile medical clinic, including a mobile X-ray and consultation room. It travels to various locations nationwide and often collaborates with the HSE Social Inclusion teams operating in each local area, with a view to integrating patients into local services.
