  • Safetynet Primary Care is a medical organisation that provides accessible, community-based primary healthcare to people who may not otherwise be able to access regular GP services — including people who are homeless, living in emergency accommodation, migrants, and other vulnerable groups.

  • We support individuals who face barriers accessing mainstream healthcare. Individuals without a medical card and who have no means to go to a private GP.  We see adults and children.

    This includes, but is not limited to:

    • People experiencing homelessness

    • International Protection Applicants

    • Migrants

  • walk-in clinic is run on a first come first served basis.  It is advisable to arrive 15 minutes prior to the clinic starting to get your place in the queue.

  • Safetynet Primary Care is free of charge.


  • For new patients, please bring a list of medications you are on, if applicable.  If you are an International Protection Applicant, please bring your IPAS blue card and overseas medical records if available.

    For returning patients, there is nothing specific required.


  • That’s okay — you can still access care through our clinics. We’ll support you as best we can, regardless of your documentation status.

  • Most prescriptions and referrals are covered under Safetynet’s medical card or HSE schemes.  We will work with you to minimise costs or connect you to support services.


  • No. Our doctors cannot sign your medical card application form. We provide healthcare to individuals who do not yet have access to mainstream GP care. 


  • Yes, if you are currently seeing a Safetynet GP, we can assist you to apply for a medical card and get registered with a mainstream GP.


  • We provide a full range of primary care services, including:

    • General GP and nurse consultations

    • Mental health support

    • Addiction services

    • Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, hypertension)

    • Sexual health services

    • Vaccinations and screenings

    • Wound care

    • Prescriptions 

    • Referrals to hospitals or specialists where needed

  • Yes. We offer mental health assessments and counselling. We also work closely with addiction and recovery services and can signpost you if required.

  • Yes. We provide an immunisation service; this can be discussed during a GP consult. We also offer childhood immunisations. We do not provide travel vaccinations.

  • Your medical information is kept confidential under GDPR.  Please see our policy here.


  • Yes, if clinically appropriate, our doctors can provide certificates.  Our doctors cannot provide letters for accommodation.

  • You do not need to bring a translator; we have a translating service that can help with the GP consult.

  • Please email records@primarycaresafetynet.ie to obtain your records. Alternatively, if you have registered with a GP, we can send the records on your behalf.

  • Yes, we operate mobile health units and work in partnership with homeless services. Please visit the Homeless Primary Care Team page here.


  • Please find a list of external services here that can help you with food and temporary accommodation. 

  • Most prescriptions should have a repeat prescription for six months. Please contact your Pharmacy or our Reception (01-233690) if you have any queries regarding this and we can assist further. 

    When presenting for the first time, please bring the details of your medications. If you are not sure, you can bring the medications you are currently taking to your consultant.

  • If you are unwell and need to see a doctor, please attend one of our clinics and you may discuss further.  You will find details here . Safetynet provides healthcare, if you have other queries or needs, please find a list of external services here.
