Safetynet innovatively removes barriers by bringing healthcare to homeless people and vulnerable groups in hostels, food halls, drop-in services and by providing a mobile health service to rough sleepers. Safetynet also aims to improve access for patients to mainstream primary and secondary care services.

GP services are required for a number of the Safetynet clinics and we are currently recruiting GPs on both a Full and Part-Time basis.

(1) PRACTICE NURSE - DUBLIN 1 (FT or PT)
​
Provide clinical nursing, health promotion and screening and vaccination under the clinical governance of the GP at Safetynet Primary Care’s new Inclusion Health Hub in Dublin 1.
​
You will need to have a passion for delivering health care to vulnerable people including those experiencing homelessness addiction or migration. You will need excellent inter-personal skills and like working with a team and on your own initiative.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
​
Immunisation
-
Infant, childhood, catch up and pregnancy / Flu Pneumococcal vaccinations / Hepatitis B, Tetanus boosters and Rubella boosters, boostrix
Chronic Disease Management
-
Cholesterol testing & dietary advice / Blood pressure monitoring / Nursing management of chronic respiratory disease / Nursing management of diabetes

Women’s & Sexual Health
-
Cervical Screening / Contraception / Opportunistic STI screening / Sexual Health advice
Skin/wound care
-
Treatment of venous leg ulcers and other skin injuries / Assessment and treatment of skin lacerations / Nursing management of skin conditions – eczema, psoriasis
General Nursing Duties

Health promotion and education / Telephone triage and advice / Phlebotomy / Ear Irrigation
-
Administering prescribed long term medications/injections (e.g. Cytamen, Depoprovera, Depixol, Myocrisin)
-
ECG recording / 24 hour abpm monitoring
-
Emergency treatment as required
-
Under 6’s periodic assessments

Results Management

Other Duties

Liaise with other health professionals in the community and hospitals

Audit of patient care and practice services
-
Maintenance of emergency equipment, cold chain and medical supplies

Assist with clinical policy and procedure development

All staff have a responsibility to work with the organisations risk management strategy and its requirements

All staff, but particularly those with direct patient contact, have a responsibility for the prevention of infection
-
Nursing duties may occasionally include off-site work at other Safetynet services

(2) MOBILE HEALTH & SCREENING UNIT (MHSU) Nurses (FT & PT) DUTIES
​
The Mobile Health and Screening Unit (MHSU) provides services to Vulnerable Migrants at Risk and other hard to reach groups. Duties include:
Service Delivery
-
Support Mobile Health and Screening Unit clinics providing support to GP, working with adult and minor patients
-
Ability to autonomously conduct health assessments and infectious disease screening in with support of the MHSU clinical team
-
Adaptable working environments and Flexibility and ability to travel around Ireland which includes overnight stays
-
Under the clinical governance of the MHSU GP provides nursing services to patients attending the MHSU e.g. cervical check programmes, vaccination programmes, dressings and phlebotomy.
-
Engage patients in health promotion and disease prevention programmes
-
Work with translators during patient screenings (telephone / in person)
-
Shows cultural competence and awareness of intercultural challenges for newly arrived migrants
-
Clinical /Professional
-
Participate in innovation and change in the approach to patient care delivery particularly in relation to new research findings, evidence based practice and advances in treatment
-
Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients within a best practice / evidence based framework
-
Manage a designated caseload and be aware of ethical policies and procedures which pertain to their area of practice
-
Promote the health, welfare and social wellbeing of patients within our services
-
Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient
-
Ensure that care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner and that the dignity and needs of the patient are respected
-
Provide appropriate and timely education and information to the patient and be an advocate for the patient
-
Administrative
-
Ensure that the care setting is maintained in good order using appropriate models, that supplies are adequate and that all equipment is clean and in good working order and ready for immediate use
-
Ensure that equipment is safe to use and report any malfunctions in a timely manner
-
Assist with ordering of supplies as required and ensure the appropriate and efficient use of supplies is made and exercise economy in the use of consumables
-
Maintain appropriate and accurate written and electronic nursing records and reports regarding patient care in accordance with local / national / professional guidelines
-
Liaising with other primary healthcare providers
-
Management and tracking of healthcare records and results
Other Duties
-
Undertake other responsibilities commensurate with the role including administration as assigned by your Line Manager and/or the CEO from time to time
-
Undertake the role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of the Safetynet Primary Care and adhere to Safetynet Primary Care policies and procedures

Be self-servicing in terms of word processing, filing, record keeping, database input, administration, collating information and generating reports from Safetynet Primary Care data etc
-
Participate in internal/external meetings as required
-
Be an effective member of the Safetynet Primary Care team and participate fully in staff meetings and other committees of the Safetynet Primary Care as required.
